Terms of service

Effective Date: 20 August 2026
Website: https://speccrafters.com

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the SpecCrafters website, online store and related services.

By accessing this website, creating an account, submitting an order, requesting a quotation, or purchasing products from SpecCrafters, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. About SpecCrafters

SpecCrafters is an optical laboratory and optical products supplier providing frames, lenses and related optical products and services to professional customers.

Where applicable, products and services offered through this website are intended for registered optical practices, optometrists, opticians, optical professionals and other authorised trade customers.

SpecCrafters reserves the right to restrict, suspend or refuse access to trade-only pricing, products or services where a customer does not meet the applicable account requirements.

2. Website Use

You agree to use this website lawfully and responsibly.

You may not:

  • use the website for unlawful purposes;

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems;

  • interfere with the security or operation of the website;

  • reproduce, copy, modify or commercially exploit website content without permission;

  • submit false, misleading or fraudulent information;

  • use another person's account or trade credentials; or

  • place orders using information that you are not authorised to use.

SpecCrafters may suspend or terminate access where it reasonably believes that the website or its services are being misused.

3. Product Information

SpecCrafters takes reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, images, specifications and pricing displayed on the website are accurate.

However, product images are provided for illustrative purposes and colours, finishes, measurements and other visual characteristics may vary depending on the customer's device or display.

Minor variations that do not materially affect the functionality or intended use of a product will not constitute a defect.

4. Pricing

All prices displayed on the website are subject to change without notice.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR).

Where applicable, delivery charges, taxes, duties or other applicable costs will be disclosed before an order is finalised.

SpecCrafters reserves the right to correct pricing errors, typographical errors or inaccurate product information.

If an order has been placed at an incorrectly displayed price, SpecCrafters may contact the customer to confirm whether the order should proceed at the correct price or be cancelled.

5. Trade Pricing and Account Access

Certain prices, products and purchasing functionality may be available only to approved trade customers.

Trade accounts are subject to approval by SpecCrafters.

SpecCrafters may request information reasonably necessary to verify a customer's professional or business status.

Trade pricing may not be disclosed, redistributed or represented as consumer pricing without SpecCrafters' written permission.

SpecCrafters reserves the right to suspend or remove trade access where account information is inaccurate, misleading or no longer applicable.

6. Orders

Submitting an order constitutes an offer to purchase the selected products.

An automated order confirmation does not necessarily constitute final acceptance of the order by SpecCrafters.

SpecCrafters may contact the customer where clarification, stock confirmation, pricing confirmation, payment confirmation or other information is required before an order can be fulfilled.

An order may be cancelled where:

  • the product is unavailable;

  • the displayed price or product information was materially incorrect;

  • payment cannot be verified;

  • the customer cannot be verified where verification is required;

  • the order appears fraudulent or abusive; or

  • circumstances outside SpecCrafters' reasonable control prevent fulfilment.

Where an order is cancelled after payment has been received, any refund will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the SpecCrafters Refund Policy.

7. Payment

Payment must be made using the payment method made available by SpecCrafters.

SpecCrafters does not store complete payment card details on its own systems where payment is processed through a third-party payment provider.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that payment information supplied is accurate and that they are authorised to use the relevant payment method.

8. Delivery

Delivery times displayed on the website are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.

Delivery may be affected by stock availability, order processing, public holidays, courier delays, weather, traffic, unforeseen operational circumstances or other events outside SpecCrafters' reasonable control.

The applicable delivery terms are set out in the SpecCrafters Shipping Policy.

9. Returns, Refunds and Defective Products

SpecCrafters does not offer returns merely because a customer has changed their mind, ordered incorrectly, selected the wrong product, or no longer requires the product, except where a return or cancellation is required by applicable law.

This does not exclude or limit any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights relating to defective, unsafe, unsuitable or materially non-conforming goods.

The complete procedure is set out in the SpecCrafters Returns and Refund Policy.

10. Intellectual Property

All content appearing on the SpecCrafters website, including logos, photographs, product imagery, text, graphics, designs, trademarks and other materials, is owned by or licensed to SpecCrafters unless otherwise stated.

No content may be copied, reproduced, republished, distributed or commercially exploited without prior written permission.

11. Third-Party Services

The website may use third-party providers for payment processing, hosting, analytics, communications, delivery, authentication and other services.

SpecCrafters is not responsible for interruptions or failures caused solely by third-party service providers, although SpecCrafters will take reasonable steps to address issues affecting customer orders.

12. Website Availability

SpecCrafters does not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

The website may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, technical issues or circumstances outside SpecCrafters' control.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, SpecCrafters will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the website or products purchased through the website.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

14. Force Majeure

SpecCrafters will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, infrastructure failures, strikes, transport disruptions, civil unrest, government restrictions, telecommunications failures or third-party service interruptions.

15. Changes to These Terms

SpecCrafters may update these Terms of Service from time to time.

The latest version will be published on this website and will apply from the stated effective date.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from exercising a right available under applicable South African consumer protection legislation.
